A Westminster man was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Friday morning following a three-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer, according to a prepared release from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
The collision occurred around 5:20 a.m. at the intersection of Md. 91 and Old Gamber Road in Finksburg.
According to preliminary information, a Honda Civic driven by David Stanne, of Milford Mill, failed to maneuver a curve on Old Gamber Road, losing control of his vehicle and traveling through a posted stop sign. The tractor-trailer struck the Honda, crossed the center line and crashed into a Volkswagen Jetta being driven northbound on Md. 91 by Kelly Murphy, of Westminster. Murphy, 38, was flown to shock trauma in serious condition, according to the prepared release.
Charges are pending based on the outcome of the investigation and review with the Carroll County State's Attorney's Office.
