Sisto Joseph Averno Sr., 86, of Pikesville

Sisto Joseph Averno Sr., 86, of Pikesville, died Monday, March 26, 2012, at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown.

Born May 12, 1925, in Paterson, N.J., he was the son of the late Roberto Averno and Elvira Isabella Salerno Averno.

He was the husband for 61 years of Margaret E. Meredith Averno.

He served honorably with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII. He was a graduate of Muhlenberg College where he earned the recognition as a member of the Muhlenberg College Athletic Hall of Fame. He went on to play professional football with the Baltimore Colts in 1950, 1953 and 1954. In between, he played with the 1951 New York Yanks football team and the 1952 Dallas Texans. As the final pick of the 1951 NFL Draft he was honored as that draft's Mr. Irrelevant. He was a member of the Italian American Hall of Fame. After his football career, he was a salesman for 57 years with both Luby and Fox Chevrolet dealerships in Baltimore.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Kimberly and Stephen Noppenberger of Taneytown, Dina Averno of Pikesville, Gia and Charles Muth of Las Vegas, Nev., Sisto Joseph Jr. and Amber Averno of Owings Mills, sister Dolores Tullo and her husband James of New Jersey, and seven grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon. Interment will be in in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.

Mary N. Brilhart, 98, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Manchester

Mary N. Brilhart, 98, of Hanover, Pa., formerly of Manchester, died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.

Born June 16, 1913, in Lineboro, she was the daughter of the late J. Samuel and Ellen Wentz Wertz. She was the wife of the late C. Thomas Brilhart.

Years ago, she worked at North Carroll School in the cafeteria. She had also worked at the Lineboro Post Office and Baugher's Restaurant. She was a charter member of the North Carroll Senior and Community Center and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester.

She enjoyed square dancing, card clubs, gardening, painting, quilting and spending time with family.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Merl and Evonne Brilhart, and Robert and Louise Brilhart, all of Hanover; grandchildren and spouses Todd and Lisa Brilhart, Ted and Beverly Brilhart, Dirk and Christine Brilhart, Lisa and Matthew Cleveland, and Jill Brilhart; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings Merl and Jessie Wertz, Grace Martin, Ellen McGrew and Carrie Elseroad.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Eckhardt Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. David's Cemetery in Hanover.

Dolores B. Clouspy, 83, of Owings Mills

Dolores B. Clouspy, 83, of Owings Mills, died March 31, 2012.

She was born Nov. 13, 1928.

She was the wife of the late Valentine F. Clouspy.

She is survived by children Valerie A. Roberts and her husband Thomas M., Gregory G. Clouspy and his wife Barbara A., and Jay A. Clouspy and his wife Kimberly A.; brothers Albert J., and Walter V.; and grandchildren Jennifer M. and Becca A. Roberts, and Alexandra and Meghan C. Clouspy.

She was predeceased by son Andrew A. Clouspy, and brother Edward S. Borys.

Friends may call at the Eline Funeral Home 11824 Reisterstown Road at Franklin Boulevard, on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday, April 4, at 11 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Church, Glyndon.

Interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, in Baltimore.

Jerold 'Jerry' Hertrich, 71, of Upperco

Jerold "Jerry" Hertrich, 71, of Upperco, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson.

Born July 23, 1940, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Jacob and Florence Hertrich. He was the husband of Donna Ford Hertrich, his wife of 41 years.

He served in the Army and did a tour in Korea. He worked for Lucent Technologies, Fidelity Engineering and was a Baltimore County bus driver. He was a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Church in Glyndon.

He enjoyed his motorcycle rides, NASCAR and horseback riding. He was a past member of the Amateur Jousting Club and the Oriole Ramblers Club. He enjoyed spending time with his dogs Sadie, Binky and Zorro.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children Dana Rampolla and husband Joe, of Reisterstown, Randal Hertrich and Kim McCubbin, of Phoenix, Md., and Shawn J. Hertrich, of Upperco; grandchildren Vincent, Matthew, Augustine, Magdalence and Sophia Rampolla, and Devon McCubbin; brother Donald Hertrich and wife Connie; numerous nieces and nephews including Cynthia Johnston and husband Lyn, Jeremy Beck and Tayborie Fisch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Russell Ford and wife Janet, Herb Ford and wife Vivian, Ruby Noble and husband Dan, William Ford and wife Beverly, Brenda Baker and husband Ron, and Sandra Stewart and husband Bill; and many friends, including Michael Hoeck and wife Carol, and school bus personnel.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at Wednesday, March 28, at Sacred Heart Church, 65 Sacred Heart Lane, Glyndon. Interment was in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in Timonium.

Ann Ruth Mettee, 83, of Sykesville

Ann Ruth Mettee, 83, of Sykesville, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

Born June 28, 1928, in Union Bridge, she was the daughter of the late Russell Troxell and Nettie Troxell Testerman. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Mettee.

She was a supervisor for the phone company.

Surviving are sisters-in-law Shirley Troxell, of Garrison and Doris Troxell, of Owings Mills; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers Maurice R. and Leroy H. Troxell; and a sister, Isabel J. Mathias.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

She was the wife of the late Louis S. Riddle

Mary Lorraine Thompson, 87, of Owings Mills, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Gilchrist Hospice in Towson.

Born February 5, 1925 in Sykesville, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Dena Dayhoff Wright. She was the wife of the late Richard C. Thompson, Sr. who died in 1994.

Surviving are children and spouses Linda and Richard Huffer, of Westminster, Richard C. Jr. and Tina Thompson, of Owings Mills, and Lisa and Marty Pittinger, of Owings Mills; brother Norman Wright, Sr., of Maryland Line; sister Dorothy Dawson, of Reisterstown; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Harry F. Wright, Jr. and Billy Wright.

A service was held Tuesday, April 3, at the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills.

Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Rev. Timothy P. Feaser officiating.

Dorothy Miles Yox, 96, of Reisterstown

Dorothy Miles Yox, 96, of Reisterstown, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Future Care Cherrywood in Reisterstown.

Born October 9, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Nelson Miles and Lola Hughes Miles, beloved wife, of Grover Bernard Yox, Sr., who died in 1965.

Dorothy was a teacher at Franklin and Randallstown Elementary Schools and a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reisterstown. She was a graduate of Towson State Teachers College and also attended University of Maryland and Western Maryland College.

She was member of the Retired Teachers' Association and Retired Teachers of Baltimore County.

She enjoyed traveling in the United States, Canada, Europe, Greece, Egypt and several countries in the Middle East.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Gogel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by sons G. Bernard Yox and George Reed Yox, and siblings Nelson Miles and Margaret Fadely.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 109 Main Street, Reisterstown.

Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church.
