Library Schedule (June 11-17)

The Eldersburg branch of the Carroll County Public Library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, will offer the following programs this week. Registration is required only where noted. For more information, call 410-386-4488.

Wednesday

Preschool Vision Screening: 9:30 a.m. For ages 2-5. Drop by the Eldersburg Branch Library between 9:30 am and 12 pm for free vision screening, offered in partnership with the Freedom District Lions Club. The screening for preschool aged children will test for lazy eye, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and depth perception. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Story Pals-Opposites: 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. For ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays, and activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Knit Wits: 7 p.m. For ages 11-adults. Beginners, please bring a light colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to the class. If you know how to knit please come and bring your project.

Thursday

Read and Play: 9:45 a.m. For ages birth-24 months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Story Pals-Opposites: 10:45 a.m. For ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays, and activities. With an accompanying adult caregiver.

Service Learning Hours-KidWorks: 5:30 p.m. For ages 12-17. KidWorks meets twice a month. At the 1st meeting we spend an hour planning a story time for younger kids. At the 2nd meeting (6/26/14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.) we present the story time. You must come to both meetings to earn 3 service learning hours.

Summer Nail Art: 6:30 p.m. For adults. Register for this event today. Have you been curious to try out a new manicure? Are you tired of wearing the same old boring polish? Join us to swap ideas, techniques, and polishes to spruce up your nails. Feel free to bring your own polish, but there will be some provided. All attendees need to register.

Monday

Year-Round Family Story Time-Zoo: 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. For all ages. An open invitation. This weekly story time, open to all ages, introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Tuesday

Summer Reading Kick-Off Celebration: 10 a.m. For all ages. Join us between 10 am and 12 pm for fun activities including face painting, crafts, games, a special visit by the Port Discovery Kick It Up Van, and free Rita's Ice to celebrate the Summer Reading Program. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Refreshments will be served.

Sykesville Tae Kwon Do Academy Demonstration: 11 a.m. For all ages. See an exciting impressive outdoor demonstration (weather permitting) by a group of talented kids who are studying tae kwon do. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
