The Sarah A. Robinson Wii Bowling Lanes at Reisterstown Senior Center was where the action in Reisterstown was this past Tuesday, July 3rd - it was the 2nd Championship Tourney of 2012 - and "action" doesn't even come close to describing the intense, skillful and exciting challenge that was going on that morning.

Eight members of the senior center went head to head using a wide variety of approaches to this championship tourney. Wide hooks, strategic attempts (and successes!) at the most challenging of splits were common place during the two hour tournament. Every bit as exciting was the galley that assemble to watch the exciting tournament. Cheers of amazement and ooohs and ahhs were heard through out the senior center as each shot was made or barely missed.

In the end, the final match of the single elimination tournament came down to two - both of whom shot a tension filled 199 in their previous matches. Up came Vera Waters, the newest member to Reisterstown Senior Center - a member who seeks out Wii bowling at senior centers across the county (Vera drove one hour to get to Reisterstown to join and participate) vs. Marilyn DeWald. Marilyn just took up Wii Bowling when she joined RSC earlier this year. Both Vera and Marilyn have their own styles of Wii play and were so focused they seemed to block out the constant cheering and words of encouragement and consolation that came with each and every approach. The tension was immense, the fun was readily apparent - great shots were made, easy shots were missed and impossible shots - well, they just happened! Ultimately it came out with Vera winning with a tough fought 160 to 153 finale.

In the name of great sportsmanship, both Marilyn and Vera enthusiastically congratulated each other and graciously accepted their trophies. In a kind act of sportsmanship, Marilyn had created a gift bag for each participant to assure that all went home with some type of prize for their participation and a great memory of a well played tournament. And you know what, they all did!
