For the Birds: Oriolse magik?

The Orioles haven't been playing good baseball these days.

Now they can't even spell.

I'll be honest -- when starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez trotted out to the mound Sunday to take on Detroit, I wasn't thinking about the back of his jersey. I was trying to figure out whether the Birds were going to solve Tigers ace Justin Verlander.

Turns out they didn't, but that wasn't the only thing that went wrong Sunday afternoon.

Gonzalez's No. 50 jersey had his last spelled G-O-N-Z-A-L-E-S.

Whoops.

The Orioles gave Gonzalez a new jersey after the first inning. And he got through 5 2-3 innings before exiting the game and eventually taking the loss.

Remember when Adam Dunn and Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals were the "Natinals" during a game in 2009? They were missing the "O" for three innings.

The Orioles have been missing the "O" for a lot longer.
