College Roundup: Maryland defeats Michigan in men's lacrosse

SHEPHERD WOMEN'S LACROSSE:

Sophomore attacker Hunter Morris (Severn) scored a goal for the Rams during a 19-11 loss to Seton Hill.

ELIZABETHTOWN WOMEN'S LACROSSE:

Montclair State scored 13 first-half goals en route to an 18-1 victory over the Blue Jays. Addie Stang scored the lone goal for the Blue Jays.

MARYLAND MEN'S LACROSSE:

Junior Jay Carlson netted a hat trick in the first half and had four goals in total to lead the top-ranked Terps to a 13-5 win over Michigan at Michigan Stadium.

The Terrapins improved to 7-0, while the Wolverines fall below .500 at 4-5.

Senior goalie Niko Amato made seven saves for the Terps, who were led defensively by senior Michael Ehrhardt, who caused three turnovers and picked up two groundballs.

Sophomore faceoff man Jon Garino won 11-of-19 draws and finished with a team-high five groundballs.

NAVY WOMEN'S GOLF:

Sophomore Renata Bucher tied for eighth place individually and the Mids finished 12th out of 13 teams at William & Mary's Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate this week at the par-72 Kingsmill Resort River Course. Navy played 36 holes on Sunday and poor weather conditions forced tournament officials to cancel play on both Monday and Tuesday.

Yale won the team title with a 616 (+41) and was followed by second-place Longwood (626; +50).

Bucher matched her career-low two-round score of 158 (79-79; +14) to finish in a tie for eighth place out of 70 golfers. Bucher carded her second straight top-10 finish after being the runner-up at the Bulldog Florida Invitational last week with a 158 (78-80).

Freshman Katie Ryall tied for 33rd place with a season-best 166. Ryall shot an 87 in the morning before turning in a season-low 79 in the afternoon.

JOHNS HOPKINS BASEBALL:

The Blue Jays used a six-run fourth inning and solid day at the mound to open up its lead on Lasell in a 10-5 victory.

UMASS MEN'S LACROSSE:

No. 19 Fairfield gave the No. 11 Minutemen their second loss of the season as the Stags took an 11-5 victory.

PENN STATE MEN'S LACROSSE:

Sophomore TJ Sanders scored four goals and senior Austin Kaut saved 13 shots as the No. 12 Nittany Lions defeated Dartmouth, 10-6.

LIMESTONE SOFTBALL:

The Saints (16-12, 1-1 CC) weren't able to muster much offense as they dropped a pair of games to Francis Marion University, 3-0 and 10-2.
