Jack Ross Stephens, 75, of Westminster, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Carroll Hospital Center.
Born April 26, 1938, in his home in Creston, N.C., he was the son of the late Joseph Spencer and Eula Jackson Stephens. He was the husband of Barbara Ann Hust Stephens, his wife of 55 years.
He was a retired crew chief for the State Highway Administration. He enjoyed going to the races at Lincoln Speedway, walking at the mall, working in his vegetable garden, reading papers and magazines, and watching the NFL, especially the Ravens.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Timothy Stephens, of Westminster; siblings Celeste Oliver, Wilma Gamble, Joann Jones, Carl Stephens and Tom Stephens, all of North Carolina; grandchildren Nicolas Stephens, Ashley Stephens and Spencer Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Daniel Ross Stephens, in 2005; and by siblings Frances Graham, Joe Stephens and Clayton Stephens.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mindy Coates officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Mount Cemetery.
