Hazel MacMenamie, 87, of Sykesville

Hazel MacMenamie, 87, of Sykesville, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Brinton Woods Nursing Home.

Born Aug. 27, 1926, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Enoch Jerome and Margaret Jane Caldwell Hensley. She was the wife of James M. MacMenamie, her husband of 62 years, who died April 22, 2008.

She had lived in Woodlawn for many years where she had worked as a waitress. After retiring, she and her late husband spent 10 years in Florida before returning to Maryland.

Surviving are daughters and son-in-law Jamie Vance and Jerry, and Jan Whetzel; a son, Michael MacMenamie; a sister, Thelma Souders; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters; three brothers; a son, James R. MacMenamie; a son-in-law, Rodger Whetzel; and a daughter-in-law, Janet MacMenamie.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial service, 11:30 a.m. Friday at Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg. Inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093.
