Library Schedules (July 3-9)

Westminster library branch

The Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library, 50 E. Main St., Westminster, will offer the following programs this week. Registration is required only where noted. For more information, call 410-386-4488.

Tuesday

Evening Story Time: 7 p.m. All ages. This story time introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Fourth of July Fun: 3 p.m. All ages. Join us as we celebrate our independence with crafts, stories, songs, and a snack. Feel free to wear red, white, and blue. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Refreshments will be served. A Celebrating America program.

Read and Play: 11 a.m. Ages birth-24 months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. Siblings welcome. With an accompanying caregiver.

Story Pals: 10 a.m. Ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Thursday

Songs at 630 Concert Series: 6:30 p.m. All ages. Join us for this free evening concert series featuring local and regional musicians. Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy some terrific music. Sponsored by The City of Westminster, Downtown Westminster Main Street Program, and Coffey Music. Rain location: lower level of Longwell Parking Garage. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Story Pals: 10 and 11 a.m. Ages 2-3. A theme-based story time featuring interactive and age-appropriate stories, songs, finger plays and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Year-Round Family Story Time: 1 p.m. All ages. This weekly story time introduces stories through books, songs, and activities. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Monday

Be a Builder: 1 p.m. Ages 3-11. If you can dream it up, you can build it. Use your imagination and the paper junk we provide to build a construction masterpiece. Children 3 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. Registration for this program began 6/25/2012.

Read and Play: 9:30 a.m. Ages birth-24 months. A story time featuring lap games, tickles, bounces, and rhymes followed by a playgroup for meeting and mingling. Siblings welcome. With an accompanying caregiver.

On My Own: 1:30 p.m. Ages 3-6. A theme-based story time for children who are ready for an independent, small group experience. All adult caregivers are welcome.

Friday

Awesome Anime: 2 p.m. Ages 11-17. Bring the East a little closer to the West. Grab your favorite manga or graphic novel and join the fandom fun. Refreshments will be served.

Food, Fun, and Reading: 2 p.m. Ages 5-8. Becky Ridgeway from University of Maryland Extension, will be here to teach us about the new My Plate Nutrition which replaces the food pyramid. We will play games and read books about good nutrition and have a healthy snack. Refreshments will be served. Registration for this program began 6/22/2012.

Songs, Stories, & Seniors: 10:30 a.m. Ages 3-Adults. Stop by for a fun program filled with bell ringing, stories, and a craft with the Senior Inclusion Program. The Senior Inclusion Program is a group of senior citizens with developmental disabilities who participate in a retirement program at Westminster Senior Center. Come and join us for some great fun. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Monday

Sidewalk Chalk Spectacular: 10 a.m. All ages. Add your own creative touch to the Finksburg Branch. Join us Mondays this summer to give our walkways some flair and fun. Program is weather permitting. Guidelines and chalk available at the Information Desk. Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Why Did I Dream About That?: 2 p.m. Ages 11-17. Dreams often make no sense at all. Using a dream guide book, we will attempt to figure out our dreams. Come prepared with a dream for us to analyze as a group. We will also make dream journals to take home. Registration for this program began 6/25/2012.
