Adding Monsters to Thrift Store Paintings: 1 p.m. For ages 10-17. Register for this event today. We provide a scenic painting purchased from a local thrift store, you paint a monster into it. It's as simple as that. Your only limit is your imagination This program was sponsored in part by a Community Arts Development Grant from the Carroll County Arts Council and the Maryland State Arts Council. How to Self-Publish and Market Your Book: 6:30 p.m. For ages 13-adults. Explore the world of self-publishing with Carroll County publisher Craig Schenning, owner of Maple Creek Media. Attend this seminar and get all the information you need to reliably and competently self-publish your book and make it available for readers around the world. Both print books and eBooks are discussed, as well as the variety of platforms you can use to market your book. A ton of great information is provided, in detail, with plenty of time for questions and answers.

Knit Wits: 7 p.m. For ages 11-adults. Beginners, please bring a light colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles to the class. If you know how to knit please come and bring your project.

Bilingual Story Time-in English and ¡Español: 10 a.m. For ages 3-8. ¡Hola Hello Learning another language is fun and beneficial for growing brains. In this bilingual story time, presented in English and Spanish, children will listen to cuentos (stories), sing canciones (songs), play juegos (games), and pick up some Spanish along the way. Come join the fun All children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Work with a Master Gardener: 9 a.m. For ages 12-adults. Register for this event today Work with a Master Gardener at the Eldersburg Branch Library's Native Garden. The Carroll County Master Gardeners will be available for your questions while maintaining our native garden from 9-11 am. Service hours are available for students ages 12-17. Wear your work clothes and bring gardening gloves. All attendees need to register.

Save Money on Your Medicare Expenses: 11 a.m. For adults. Do you or someone you know need help paying for Medicare medical expenses or Part D prescription drugs? Join us at this free one hour workshop to learn about Medicare Savings Programs. Not all of the programs are low-income programs. Also, learn how to protect yourself from Medicare fraud and abuse. There is no cost to apply for these programs and no cost to receive their benefits.

Flying Faders Summer Concert: 1 p.m. For all ages. Join local band The Flying Faders as they play a medley of original surf rock songs, blended with some you're sure to recognize. Come celebrate summer's triumphant return with great music and lots of fun Children 3 and younger must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Code It @ the Library: 2 p.m. For ages 9-15. Register for this event today. Explore Scratch, a popular educational programming language designed by the MIT Media Lab. By simply dragging together colored blocks of code, you can learn computer programming concepts and make cool games and animations. Create a playable game using step by step instructions or design your own. This program will be held monthly with multiple projects offered. Bring a USB flash drive if you want to save your finished project to take home.

PAWS to Read: 2 p.m. For ages 6-17. Register for this event today. Come to the library and read a story to a book-loving dog. Research shows that children enjoy improving their reading skills by practice reading to animals. Struggling readers are encouraged to participate. Only kids need to register.
