6th Annual PEEPshow to be held

The Carroll Arts will be hosting its 6th annual PEEPshow Thursday March 28 through Sunday April 7. Last year's event featured 190 incredible creations crafted from or inspired by marshmallow Peeps.

This wacky event has quickly become one of the most anticipated community events attracting more than 12,000 visitors from the region. Previous year's events have attracted amazingly creative entries, including a life sized Lorax, The "Peep Panther," "Todd Peep," "Justin Peeper" magical monsters, movie characters and other clever celebrations of pop culture, fine art and play on words. In addition there are even stop-action "Peep" films shown in the Arts Center's art deco movie theatre.

The public can vote for their favorites by purchasing vote chips that will be sold for $1 each, 10 for $5, 25 for $10, 75 for $25 or 200 for $50. The public will vote by putting their chips in the container next to each work of art. Last year more than 13,000 votes were cast! Awards to those receiving the top six highest votes will be announced on Sunday, April 7. All proceeds will benefit the Carroll County Arts Council, one of the community's most vibrant non-profit organizations. There will also be an array of PEEP souvenirs and treats for sale as well.

The PEEPshow is sponsored by local orthodontist, Dr. Edward M. Goldman and New Windsor State Bank with support from Just Born. Admission to the event is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, including Easter Sunday. Voting will end at 4 p.m. on the final day of the event.

The Carroll Arts Center is located at 91 W. Main St. in downtown Westminster. For more information call 410-848-7272 or visit http://www.CarrollCountyArtsCouncil.org.
