New Windsor looking for Dielman Inn buyer after open house

NEW WINDSOR - The New Windsor Town Council is hoping to find a potential buyer for the town-owned Dielman Inn after more than 200 people went through the property during an open house last month.

Mayor Neal Roop told the audience at the town council meeting Wednesday night that the open house was well attended and the town's real estate agent has already received at least one call on the property.

Councilwoman Kim Schultz said she met with staff from Preservation Maryland about the Dielman Inn, and the organization should be presenting the town with a summary of its recommendations for the property over the next few weeks. Once the town receives Preservation Maryland's report, it will be scheduled for discussion at a future town council meeting, she said.

Also at Wednesday's meeting, the town council voted to approve the purchase of a water booster pump to be installed on the south side of town for $15,969.

The next town council meeting on Dec. 5 will be preceded by the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m., at the town park on Main Street and Md. 75. Students from New Windsor Middle School have been invited to perform music at the ceremony, which will be followed by refreshments in the Community Meeting Room at the Carroll County Public Library headquarters building.
