Ravens: Dickson returns to practice, more optimistic regarding Week 1 availability

OWINGS MILLS - Monday was a positive step for Ravens tight end Ed Dickson as he continues to work back from the partially torn hamstring he suffered earlier this month.
Dickson was still non-committal when asked if he'll be available for Baltimore's season opener against the Denver Broncos Sept. 5, but he acknowledged that going through practice Monday - even on a limited basis - increased his optimism regarding his availability for the season opener.
"Without a doubt," Dickson said. "This makes me work even harder knowing that I'm a little step closer to getting back."
The practice was the first that Dickson had taken part in since injuring his hamstring Aug. 4.
"It was good," Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell said. "Obviously they're kind of bringing him along slowly, but it obviously shows that he's making rapid improvement, and we're certainly glad to get him out there and get him a little bit of work."
Dickson said last week that the hamstring was still a little sore, but he said after practice Monday that the hamstring is feeling better.
"I feel like I'm ready to get out there and do the things that I need to do," Dickson said. "Practice is as hard as a game out here, so if I get out to practicing fully then I feel like I'll be able to go [in a game]."
