I am weary of career politicians who don't look out for the people, don't obey the rule of law, are buying elections with special interest money and are standing against everything that made America great.
I believe the media have an agenda to favor the ideologues who agree with their philosophy. They distort the news, outright lie and censor by omission. Many Americans are too naïve or uninformed to realize this. Where does one look to make an informed decision?
Turn off the television, put away the social media, the computer games, sports, shopping and all of the other diversions that don't mean a lot. Attend meetings and rallies. Ask candidates tough questions. Go to their websites. Think about what is being said, as well as what is not being said. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
In the past two years, 900 Carroll County Democrats have changed their party affiliation to Republican. Some say the Democratic Party has moved too far left, and away from our American values, or could it be these Democrats know it is almost impossible for their party to win elections in Carroll County and are trying to change the system?
Lifelong Democrats are running for office who recently became Republican candidates. Did their values change, or are they trying to run as something they are not? Carroll County is not perfect, but look at the crime, social issues, cost of living and problems of all of the Maryland counties surrounding us and you will see that we live in a place with a great quality of life.
It amazes me that there are people in our county who want to change us to be more like the dysfunctional "paradise" of Baltimore City or Washington D.C. Think about it, follow the money and become informed.
Talk to teachers and law enforcement officers that you respect. Weigh their counsel in your decision for school board or sheriff.
Last week we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. I saw pictures of the cemetery at Normandy. About 9,000 American soldiers lost their lives that morning. Each of those brave men died for you and for me so we could live as free men and women. The most terrible insult to their ultimate sacrifice would be to not vote or worse yet, to make a uniformed vote. Choose wisely.
