Junior Achievement of Central Maryland

has appointed David Garbarino to a three-year term on its board of directors.

With over 13 years in the finance industry, Garbarino serves as the Baltimore area executive and senior vice president of BB&T. As the senior banking officer and market leader, he is responsible for coordination and advancement of the bank within the community.

Junior Achievement of Central Maryland is dedicated to inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy. Through a dedicated volunteer network, Junior Achievement provides in-school and after-school programs for kindergarten through 12th grade students which focus on work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.

Avon Products, Inc.

recently announced that Pikesville Avon Representative Janet Asbury has been recognized among the beauty company's top Representatives in the U.S. The company recently awarded Asbury, along with other top Avon Representatives at the company's annual President's Recognition Program Celebration, a trip on a seven day cruise to Alaska to celebrate their success.

The cruise lasted from July 20-27 on the Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas. During their time on the ship, the top Representatives got a chance to visit Juneau, the capital of Alaska; the town of Skagway; Tracy Arm-Fords, and ported in Victoria, the southern tip of Vancouver Island in British Columbia best known for its mild climate, museums and abundant gardens. During the trip they were also recognized for their achievements with a Recognition Gala

Jewish Legal Services

, a program of Jewish Community Services (JCS) in Owings Mills, offers legal information, advice and referral services for Jewish individuals with limited income. A walk-in legal clinic is held on the second Monday of each month from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at JCS, 5750 Park Heights Avenue. Volunteer community lawyers offer advice on a variety of legal issues, including consumer/bankruptcy, landlord-tenant, family and employment questions. The Baltimore Humane Society
