Carroll County writers have a chance to win $100 in a Flash Fiction Contest sponsored by the county chapter of Maryland Writers. The contest is open to residents 16 and older, with no cost to enter. In addition to the monetary prize, the winner will receive publication in the Carroll County Writers’ flash fiction collection and a year’s membership in Maryland Writers’ Association.
The author’s name and Carroll County address should be in the main body of the email, and the flash fiction entry in an attachment. Do not include name or address in the attachment. Judging is based on three criteria: a complete story of 500 words or less with a beginning, middle and end; creativity and originality; and technical merit, including punctuation and spelling. Entries may be any genre except erotica, children’s fiction or poetry. Entries with political agenda, obscene violence or exceeding 500 words will not be considered. Judges, officers of CCCMWA and their families, are not eligible to enter.
Entries must be received by July 15. Entries should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions can be directed to email@example.com.
