Breast cancer awareness effort set to paint the TownMall pink

On Saturday, Oct. 6, TownMall of Westminster will host Paint TownMall Pink, an event aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer treatment and prevention.

The event will take place at Center Court from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The organizations sponsoring and participating include Advanced Radiology, American Cancer Society, Beautiful Faces Permanent Makeup Salon, Carroll Homecare and Hospice, The Women's Place at Carroll Hospital Center, Carroll County Health Department and Carroll Regional Cancer Center.

Those groups will feature educational materials on breast cancer prevention and detection, treatment options and self detection learning tools. There will also be a fashion show — featuring local cancer survivors — as well as Zumba demonstrations, seated massage therapy, pink hair extensions and feathers, activities for kids, giveaway items and raffle prizes for the public.

Dr. Flavio Kruter, from Carroll Regional Cancer Center, will host a meet and greet session, and the mall will change the lights in the fountain to pink. Also, all coins collected from the fountain in October will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
