Delegation to host meeting on 2012 legislative proposals

WESTMINSTER —Carroll County's Delegation in the General Assembly will hold its annual public hearing on proposed county legislation on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Carroll County Office Building, room 003, 225 N. Center St, Westminster

State senators and delegates who represent the county in Annapolis will discuss proposed legislation for the 2012 General Assembly session, which begins in January.

Among the proposals will be an updated map for Carroll County Commissioner districts. Based on the 2010 Census, the county has charged a committee to adjust the district lines for the five commissioner districts, and the committee was scheduled to make its recommendation this past week.

The redistricting proposal will be discussed at the delegation meeting.

Other legislative proposals include a gaming measure being requested as a fundraising mechanism by the Carroll County Volunteer Services Association; a bill to allow another early voting location in the county; and a measure regarding tax credits for residents of housing units at independent living retirement communities, among others. Citizens are invited to hear the presentations and comment on the proposals.
