Oklahoma Road nets national Blue Ribbon honor

ELDERSBURG — Oklahoma Road Middle School in Eldersburg was named this week as a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School.

The Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools whose students achieve at high levels or have made significant progress and helped close gaps in achievement, especially among disadvantaged and minority students.

in December 2010, Oklahoma Road was named as a Maryland Blue Ribbon School, a designation that advanced it to the national review.

The school is one of 10 schools in Maryland to receive the national award for 2011.

School officials will be honored at a conference and awards ceremony to be held Nov. 14-15, in Washington, D.C.
