"Bridesmaids" (R). A bride to be (Maya Rudolph) worries that her upcoming wedding will be ruined by her increasingly jittery best friend and maid of honor (Kristen Wiig). This is an uneven comedy, but there are endearing performances and a few very funny scenes. Grade: B TownMall Cinemas (9:40 pm)

In this latest of comic book adaptations, Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, the first human to be recruited into the Green Lantern Corps, a centuries-old organization sworn to preserve intergalactic order. "Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer" (PG). Not reviewed. Judy Moody (Jordana Beatty) can't wait to have summer adventures with her best friends, but winds up stuck with her little brother and an aunt she's never met in this family comedy aimed at the younger set. "Kung Fu Panda 2, 3D" (PG). Not reviewed. Jack Black and Angelia Jolie provide voices for this animated sequel in which a panda warrior faces his greatest challenge. TownMall Cinemas (1:00, 4:00, 6:45, 9:00)

"Mr. Poppers Penguins" (PG). Not reviewed. The life of a businessman (Jim Carrey) begins to change after he inherits six penguins, and as he transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland, his professional side starts to unravel. "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (PG-13). It seems fitting that the story concerns the search for the fountain of youth, because the fourth installment in this theme park-derived movie series shows signs of growing old. With Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Penelope Cruz, Richard Griffiths, Judi Dench and that fountain of wrinkles, Keith Richards. Grade: C+ TownMall Cinemas (12:50, 3:50, 6:50, 9:50)

"Super 8" (PG-13). Not reviewed. Writer/director J.J. Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg are behind this period sci-fi thriller set in the late 1970s, centering on a group of young friends filming an amateur movie, and a mysterious train crash in a small Ohio town. "X-Men: First Class" (PG-13). Not reviewed. The latest installment of this superhero franchise details how the X-Men came to be, as a group of misfit mutants discover their powers for the first time.
