Carroll Co. looks at laying off 18 to save $3 million

Baltimore Sun

Carroll County is looking to save $3 million with layoffs that could affect as many as 18 employees. Commissioner Dean L. Minnich of Westminster said Wednesday night that while the county's budget staff recommended laying off 18, half of those will have the opportunity of being reassigned to other jobs. "It was the drop in income from the state that caused this," Minnich said. The Carroll County work force has been reduced by 12 percent since the summer. The layoffs go into effect Feb. 3.
