Early Sunday fire guts Finksburg residence

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office said the Red Cross is assisting a Finksburg family after an early morning fire Sunday caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to their home.

The fire occurred at about 1:45 a.m. in the 1500 block of Dulany Road, Finksburg, according to the fire marshal's office. The Reese Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responder, and officials said it took 70 firefighters total some 90 minutes to declare the blaze under control.

No one was injured, but the home is uninhabitable, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal Brian Quick. The fire was determined to have started in the living room of the single story split-level residence, but the cause was still under investigation as of late Sunday morning.
