A Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputy suffered injuries in a crash on Route 140 in Finksburg on Friday in an accident that ultimately involved five vehicles and sent five people to the hospital.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Master Deputy Mario DeVivio was on eastbound Route 140 at the crossroads with Route 91 in Finksburg when a Jeep Wrangler driven by a Finksburg resident made a turn in front of his vehicle.
The deputy was unable to avoid the collision, which caused a chain reaction involving three additional vehicles — two Ford Fusions and a GMC Terrain.
The drivers of four of the vehicles, including DeVivio, and one passenger in another vehicle were transported to Carroll Hospital Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The Sheriff's Office investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl J. Miller at 410-386-2900.
