The state medical examiner is working to determine the exact cause of death for a man who died after a house fire in Westminster Friday.

Gordon Edwin Fisher, Jr., 75, was pulled from the 1 1/2 -story house in the 1200 block of Naugahyde Road by a Carroll County Sheriff's deputy and his neighbor, a retired firefighter. The two administered CPR until medics arrived. Fisher pronounced dead at the scene, Bouch said.

Fisher initially called in a report of a fire at his home at 12:46 p.m., and the phone was disconnected shortly afterward. The house was nearly full involved when firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after receiving the call, Bouch said.

It took 40 firefighters from eight companies more than 45 minutes to control the fire, and they were still working on hot spots nearly 2 hours later.
