Three police officers struck by vehicle outside Baltimore club

Baltimore City police fired shots at a Jeep that stuck three police officers as they were monitoring a crowd outside a West Baltimore club early Sunday morning.

Police spokesman J. Eric Kowalczyk said several officers were directing traffic in the 200 block of N. Franklintown Road when a Jeep crossed the center line and drove toward the officers. The vehicle hit three of them. One of the officers fired "several times" at the vehicle, Kowalczyk said.

"When the officer fired and how many times is being investigated," he said.

The Jeep then drove away, but was tracked down by Western District officers not long after. Police said suspects had fled the vehicle prior to it being located. The three officers hit by the Jeep were transported to Maryland Shock Trauma with various injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

Police are investigating the incident. Anyone who has information may call 410-396-2100.
