A Frederick County woman pleaded guilty to voter fraud after she was charged with signing her dead mother's name on an absentee ballot in the 2012 presidential election, the state prosecutor's office announced Thursday.
Elsie Virginia Schildt, 46, was sentenced to probation before judgment and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service in the first 120 days of her probation.
Schildt was charged in July with impersonating another person in an attempt to vote, attempting to vote under a false name and attempting to vote more than once in the same election after she signed her mother's name on an "Oath of Absentee Voter" weeks after she had died. She had also signed an absentee ballot in her name.
