Special Olympics event to close northbound bore of Fort McHenry Tunnel over weekend

A five-kilometer walk and run event organized by the Special Olympics of Maryland will close one of two northbound bores of the Fort McHenry Tunnel over the weekend, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

The righthand bore, Bore 4, will be closed starting about 7 p.m. Saturday, and won't reopen until about noon Sunday, the authority said.

The ramp from northbound Interstate 95 onto Keith Avenue will also be closed during the same timeframe, offficials said.

Drivers will be detoured to the Boston Street exit instead, then back onto southbound I-95 to return to Keith Avenue, officials said.

The race itself, which goes through the closed tunnel bore, is at 9 a.m. Sunday. Registration is at 8 a.m. at 4000 Leland Ave.
