Pruski to run for Anne Arundel council seat

Anne Arundel County school board member Andrew Pruski said Tuesday that he will run for county council in this year's upcoming election. The Gambrills resident, who served as school board president last school term, said he'll run for the District 4 seat currently held by councilman Jamie Benoit.

Pruski said he will formally announce his intention to run on Wednesday in Odenton. He ran in 2006 and lost in the democratic primary.

"I decided to run for council because Anne Arundel County needs a voice on the council addressing the needs of our schools, services and quality of life," Pruski said in a statement. "There are many challenges and opportunities in District 4.

"In particular we need to strategically manage growth in West County, support our military and employees at Fort Meade and NSA and increase economic opportunities for all residents," Pruski said.
