A three-car accident south of Londontowne, involving a car owned by a driving school, sent three people to the hospital Saturday afternoon, police said.
The crash occurred about 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Solomon's Island Road and Stepney Street, according to a statement from the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Pamela Dittmar, a 53-year-old resident of Severna Park, rear ended a driving school car with a 16-year-old boy behind the wheel, police said.
Dittmar's car then continued into the turn lane for Stepney Street and collided with a second vehicle, which was split in two during the crash, being driven by Charmaine Richardson of Harwood, according to the statement. Richardson's age was not known to police.
Dittmar and a passenger in the car with the teenage driver, 45-year-old Derrick Lewis of Windsor Mill, were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center and treated for minor injuries, police said. The 16-year-old was not injured.
Richardson was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with critical injuries. The crash is being investigated; alcohol was not a factor, police said.
