Forecast: Showers, possible thunderstorms; high 81

The National Weather Service was calling for showers on Friday in the Baltimore area and possible thunderstorms after noon. The high temperature was expected to be 81 degrees, with calm winds becoming northeast around 5 miles per hour. The chance of rain is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between one quarter of an inch and half an inch are possible.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Friday for counties along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay and the middle and lower tidal Potomac River.

Friday night was expected to be cloudy, with a low around 69 degrees and light west winds. There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are possible, and that figure could rise with thunderstorms

Saturday was expected to be partly sunny, with a high near 84 and light north winds. The chance of rain is 40 percent.

Saturday night was expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 67 and calm winds. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight.
