An elderly Greektown woman was attacked Friday night by a pit bull, whose owner has surrendered the dog to animal control officials.
A year-old pit bull named Blue, owned by Henrietta Rouzer of the 700 block of Ponca St., bit the woman, who was taken to a hospital for treatment, according to city officials, who did not have information about the woman's condition Sunday.
The dog is being kept at Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, said Brian Schleter, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Health Department, which oversees the Bureau of Animal Control.
"It will remain in quarantine at BARCS for 10 days, at which point there will be an administrative hearing to determine if the dog is dangerous and should be euthanized or can be returned to the owner with restrictions," Schleter said.
