Suspect in 2 bank robberies arrested last week, Baltimore Co. police say

A man suspected of holding up two Baltimore County banks last month is in custody.

Police on Monday announced the arrest last week of Robert Louis Thompson, 32, who is charged with committing two robberies, those of an M&T Bank branch at 38 W. Ridgely Road in Lutherville-Timonium on April 27 and the Bank of America branch at 7912 Belair Road in Fullerton two days later.

Thompson, of no fixed address, was arrested Thursday with the aid of a Metro Crime Stoppers tip, according to a statement from police. In both robberies, a man police believe was Thompson used a note to demand money from tellers and fled with undisclosed amounts of cash.

Surveillance photographs from the second robbery led to the tip that resulted in Thompson's arrest. He was being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center, police said Monday.
