A series of strong thunderstorms that brought tornado and flash flood warnings moved through the Baltimore region Saturday evening, but no major damage or injuries were reported.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch and later a warning to Baltimore and Carroll counties, which that expired Saturday night. Several counties, including Frederick, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Baltimore counties, were issued a flash flood watch lasted through the evening.
By 10 p.m. Saturday, BGE had reported about 15,000 homes in the Baltimore area without power.
In Baltimore City, Thames and Wolfe streets were closed late Saturday due to flooding in Fells Point.
Havre de Grace experienced high water from the Susquehanna River. The combination of tidal conditions, prevailing winds and heavy rains resulted in moderate flooding of properties on the waterfront. City parks on the waterfront are closed, and the city's promenade is closed because of debris.
Annapolis experienced "moderate flooding" during the afternoon high tide, which closed Compromise Street and submerged a section of the City Dock parking lot, said Kevin J. Simmons, director of the city's office of emergency management. "The next big challenge is high tide tomorrow at 4:30 a.m.," he said.
Costal flood warnings will remain in effect until 11 a.m. Sunday for several counties throughout the state, including Anne Arundel, Harford, Prince George's and southern Baltimore County.
Sunday's forecast is mostly sunny, breezy, with winds 18 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Sunday's high is expected to reach 65.
The next chance for rain is Monday night, when possible showers are in the forecast.
