Marylanders can expect a sunny day Tuesday as high pressure and clear skies move in behind Monday's cold front. The thunderstorms forecasters had predicted ahead of the front on Monday mostly weakened, leaving the region with little more than scattered showers and some gusty late-morning winds that reached 40 mph at Martin State Airport.
Despite the Tornado Watch posted for parts of Southern Maryland, no funnel clouds were spotted, according to Steve Zubrick, science and operations office for the National Weather Service's regional forecast office, in Sterling, Va.
High winds did knock out electrical service for nearly 5,000 BGE customers, according to the utility's website. One last round of gusty winds was possible late Monday before the front finally moved through and skies cleared. Tuesday's forecast high for BWI-Marshall is 47 degrees.
