Robbers in Anne Arundel may have used Taser on victim

Two young men were robbed by a group of four in Laurel Saturday night, and one of the victims may have been stunned by an electronic device similar to a Taser, Anne Arundel County police reported.

Police said they responded about 11 p.m. to a report that two men, aged 18 and 20, had been robbed near Marcey Creek Road and Russett Green West. The victims told police they had stopped their car in the area because they were having mechanical trouble and decided to look at the engine.

The men told police that after they stopped, four males emerged from nearby bushes and demanded their belongings. The victims said two of the robbers were masked and that one was wielding a knife.

According to police, the victims complied with the order, and the robbers punched one of the victims and knocked him to the ground. The victim also told police that one of the robbers used an electronic device similar to a Taser, shocking him in the back before fleeing.

Police said they searched the area and found two teenagers matching the descriptions given by the victims. After the victims identified the pair, police said they arrested them. Daivon Nixon, 16, and Derek Wilson, 16, of Laurel were charged as adults with armed robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.

Officers were seeking the remaining suspects, both males, and were trying to find witnesses. They urged anyone with information to call the Western District Station at 410-222-6155.
