I-70 reopens near Mt. Airy after tractor-trailer crash

Interstate 70 has been reopened in Howard and Carroll counties after a crash involving a tractor-trailer, according to the Maryland State Police.

Doug Alexander, a spokesman for the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company, said a driver and a passenger were aboard the truck. He said one person was taken to a trauma center and the other was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

According to police, the 8:39 a.m. crash involved a propane carrier but did not result in a spill. The highway was closed between Routes 94 and 27. The spokesman said workers at the scene would transfer the propane to another tanker before attempting to turn the truck upright. Alexander said there was no indication about what caused the single-vehicle crash.
