Firefighters control blaze at rowhouse in Northwest Baltimore

Firefighters have gained control of a rowhouse fire that erupted Friday morning in Northwest Baltimore.

Initial reports of people trapped in the three-story dwelling turned out to be false, according to a bulletin from Baltimore Firefighters Union Local 734. No injuries have been reported.

Fire investigators are conducting a probe to determine the cause and origin of the fire, the bulletin said.

Crews arriving at the house on the 3600 block of Reisterstown Road northwest of Druid Hill Park found heavy fire showing from the second floor of the dwelling, one of eight in a row. Most appeared to be abandoned, some with boarded-up doors and windows.

"Engine crews are aggressively attacking the fire while truck crews simultaneously conduct search-and-rescue operations," the union's first bulletin said at 9:17 a.m.
