Susan Paula Kramon, a retired social worker, died of pneumonia Oct. 15 at Gilchrist Hospice Care. She was 65 and lived in Brooklandville.
Born Susan Paula Samuelson in Washington, D.C., she was known as Paula. She was raised on Bateman Avenue and later in Pikesville. She was a 1962 Milford Mill High School graduate and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Carnegie Mellon University and a master's degree in social work from the University of Maryland.
Mrs. Kramon worked for 14 years in various social work agencies, including Jewish Family and Children's Services, and was active in the National Association of Social Workers and the American Cancer Society.
"Those who knew her attest to her ability to connect with and care for even the most peripheral people in her life, through her generosity of spirit, which wasn't diminished by over two decades of medical difficulties," said her son, Justin Kramon of Philadelphia.
"She was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known, wickedly funny, full of grace, dignity and gentleness. I don't think there was an ounce of pettiness or prejudice in her," said Mark Brenner, a radiation oncologist who treated Mrs. Kramon for skin cancer.
Private services were held Saturday.
In addition to her son, survivors include her husband of 44 years, James M. Kramon of Brooklandville; a daughter, Annie Kramon of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two sisters, Gail Samuelson of Albany, N.Y. and Emily Samuelson of Baltimore.
