I-95 traffic detoured following tractor-trailer accident

Police have reopened I-95 South in Baltimore after workers cleared up a tractor-trailer accident Sunday morning. The main lines were shut down for nearly three hours Sunday morning following a tractor-trailer accident.

The truck jackknifed near the Caton Avenue exit at about 7 a.m. due to the rain and speed, Maryland Transportation Authority Sgt. Jonathan Green said. The accident caused one of the fuel tanks on board to spring a leak.

Authorities closed down the main travel lanes because the rain and fuel made the road too slippery, Green said. Police diverted traffic to the right shoulder of the roadway and to a detour onto I-395; I-95 South reopened shortly before 10 a.m.

No one was injured in the accident, Green said. He did not release the driver's name.

The accident remains under investigation.
