A Maryland Transit Administration Mobility driver was injured Monday night when a motorist being followed by Baltimore City police struck the MTA vehicle in southwest Baltimore. The driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police were following a vehicle about 8:30 p.m. after seeing its driver acting suspiciously, said Detective Kevin Brown, a department spokesman. Noticing the police, the driver accelerated and struck an MTA Mobility vehicle at the intersection of West Pratt and Smallwood streets.
The driver who struck the MTA Mobility vehicle, which transports people whose disabilities prevent them from using conventional public transportation, was taken into custody. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Baltimore County. The driver has not been identified.
