Baltimore police say a 13-year-old girl is suspected in a fatal shooting during an attempted robbery in East Baltimore that may have been part of a gang initiation.
Police say the girl tried to rob two men Aug. 13 in the 100 block of N. Linwood Ave, about a block north of Patterson Park. When the men resisted, police say the girl shot them both.
One man survived, but police say the second man died Saturday from a gunshot wound to his head.
The girl had not been arrested as of Sunday night, said Det. Kevin Brown, a Baltimore police spokesman. "They're still trying to run her down," he said, and "trying to confirm an identity."
Police say the incident is one in a string of attacks on Hispanic men in Baltimore in recent weeks. Last week, police said the incident was believed to be part of a gang initiation.
