A 26-year-old Baltimore County man who died Saturday at the scene of a high-speed automobile crash has been identified by police.

Baltimore County police released the identity of Steven Edward Bittner, of the 6500 block of Saint Helena Avenue, who died when the 2001 Chrysler Sebring he was driving crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Holabird and Holaview Road about 9:20 a.m. The car was driving fast, police said, and the force of the crash split the pole in two pieces. The vehicle had a rear right flat tire, police said.

Bittner was pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Department medics.
