Police and fire investigators are looking into a suspicious fire at Belle Grove Elementary School in Anne Arundel County.

Division Chief Michael E. Cox of the county fire department said that the blaze, reported at 7:42 p.m. on Tuesday, was confined to some construction material in the foyer of the building, which is being renovated.

There was no damage to the school itself, in the 4500 block of Belle Grove Rd. in Brooklyn Park.

"It appears that the incident involved some vandalism," Cox said. "We do believe that the fire was intentionally set."
