Storm knocks out power for thousands in Baltimore region

An overnight thunderstorm with gusting winds left more than 30,000 Baltimore area residents without power for portions of the night.

About 5,000 BGE customers remained without power as of Monday morning, according to BGE, with more than 3,000 located in Anne Arundel County. BGE said they are working to get power restored, but had no estimate for when electricity would be returned.

The National Weather Service said the fast-moving storm dumped about a half inch of a rain Sunday night at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport.
