Police: Drugs may have played role in crash that killed woman

A Baltimore woman might have been under the influence of drugs Sunday when her car crashed head on into a pickup truck, according to Delaware State Police.

Police say a Nissan Altima driven by 24-year-old Melissa Marie Mohl crossed the center line of Seashore Highway near Bridgeville at 7:45 a.m. Sunday and collided with the truck.

Mohl suffered severe head trauma and died at a hospital. Police say her son, Nikolas Mohl, was properly restrained. The boy suffered minor injuries and was flown to A.I. duPont Hospital for Children as a precaution.

The pickup truck's driver and a passenger were both taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to state police.

Based on preliminary information state police investigators believe that drugs may have been a factor, said spokesman Cpl. Bruce Harris, but he did not provide further details.
