Two men killed within 3 hours, 8 blocks of each other in city

Two men were shot to death within three hours and eight blocks of each other Saturday night and early Sunday in East Baltimore, according to police.

At 10:40 p.m. Saturday, police found the body of a man in his mid-20s in the middle of the 1600 block of N. Port St. The victim was shot once in the head and was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital at 11 p.m. His identity was not released pending notification of kin.

At 12:55 a.m., police responded to another call about a shooting on the east side and found the body of 30-year-old Jason Rogers in the middle of the 1000 block of N. Patterson Park Ave. Police spokesman Donny Moses said Rogers had been shot multiple times. "Despite the efforts of doctors at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the victim died at 1:40 a.m.," Moses said.

Moses could not say whether the shootings were related. There were no witnesses and no immediate suspects in either shooting.
