Gang leader who wrote poem about killing sentenced to 30 years in prison

A female member of the Tree Top Piru Bloods gang implicated in murder and drug trafficking was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison, according to federal prosecutors in Baltimore.

Michelle "Michelle Hell" Hebron, 25, of Hagerstown and Annapolis, had pleaded guilty in federal court in April to a charge of racketeering conspiracy and also admitted killing a person she believed was a rival gang member, prosecutors said.

District Judge William D. Quarles Jr. sentenced Hebron to 30 years in prison plus five years of supervised probation. She had faced a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Hebron, known for her hard-edged demeanor, became known to police when she was investigated in the killing of David Leonard Moore in October 2008.

"Michelle Hebron committed a murder and then wrote a poem claiming that she shot the victim for wearing the wrong gang colors," U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein said in a statement released Wednesday. "She held a leadership role in the TTP Bloods gang and helped the gang spread throughout Maryland."

Twenty-two others have been convicted in the racketeering conspiracy. Sherman Pride, 35, and Ronnie Thomas, 36, are scheduled to be sentenced Friday. Pride could be sentenced to life in prison; Thomas faces a maximum of 20 years.
