A pedestrian struck by a car Saturday night in Ferndale in Anne Arundel County died of his injuries at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
County police say the pedestrian, who was not identified, was crossing Route 648 in a crosswalk at the intersection of Ferndale Road just before 10 p.m. and was struck by a car traveling south. The victim was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead about two hours later.
Police have not charged the car's driver and said they are working to determine whether a pedestrian crossing signal at the intersection was functioning. An initial investigation suggests the driver failed to yield the right of way and that the pedestrian's dark-colored clothing might have played a contributing role, police said.
