A man fatally shot Saturday morning outside his home and business in Dundalk was identified as Lee Martin, 40, Baltimore County police said Sunday.
Neighbors described him as a good neighbor who owned Hop's Inn in the 7000 block of Railway Avenue. They believed he took over the business from a relative.
"He looked out for me," said Joseph Baranowski, 74. "When the snow came, he shoveled my driveway, him and his boys." A longtime resident, Baranowski described the neighborhood as quiet.
Witnesses called police at 2:24 a.m. Saturday, saying a man had been shot in the head and that two males were spotted running from the scene.
Police arrived to find the victim riddled with bullets — he was shot nine times — but still breathing. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police spokesman Robert McCullough said no other information was immediately available. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 410-307-2020 or call Metro CrimeStoppers, 1-866-756-2587. CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000.
An earlier fatal shooting in Baltimore County occurred shortly before midnight Friday in the 3800 block of McDowell Lane in Halethorpe, according to police. Police said they received a 911 call. A male victim was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, and pronounced dead there. Police spokesman McCullough said Sunday he had no further information on the incident.
