Gov. Martin O'Malley announced Friday appointments to education boards and commissions across the state. Among the appointees to the University System of Maryland Board of Regents are Paul L. Vance, former superintendent for the District of Columbia's school system; Louise M. Gonzales, an attorney; and Leslie Donald Hall, a junior at Bowie State University, serving as the student regent. Sandra L. Jimenez, the parent involvement specialist for Prince George's County schools, was appointed to the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Luisa Montero-Diaz, the managing director of Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers, and Sayed M. Naved, president of Banyan Technology Solutions, will serve on the Maryland State Board of Education. James G. Gresham, the coordinator of assessments, training and test security for Baltimore City Public Schools, and Patricia Reed Norman, senior account executive at American Office Equipment Inc., will serve on the Community College of Baltimore County Board of Trustees. Appointed to the Howard Community College Board of Trustees was Edmund Starr Coale III, an accountant.
